Have you ever seen the cartoon called The Jetsons? It was a very popular show some years ago about a family who lives in the future. For some of their meals, they have pills; the pills contain all the protein and food they need, and by swallowing that pill, it’s like they’re have a Thanksgiving meal!
Where we live, we don’t have food the size of pills – yet. However, we do have something similar: protein bars! You may think, “Ew, gross, why would I have a protein bar?” But as a matter of fact, protein bars give your body all the protein you need and it fills you up, like eating a whole meal. It may not be a pill, but it sure is similar. Below is a recipe for protein bars that are healthy, sweet, and tasty all at the same time! Enjoy!
- 3 ½ cups oats
- 1 ½ cups dried milk
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 cup lite syrup
- 2 scoops protein powder
- 1 egg
- 1 ¼ cup orange juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup raisins or dried fruit, chopped
Line a cookie sheet with waxed paper and preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly in a large bowl, and then, pour onto cookie sheet – and make sure to spread it evenly. Then press cutting lines in to the substance to make 10 pieces. Bake 15 minutes or until golden brown. Cut them apart, and then cool them. The ones you will not eat right away should be put into plastic bags and be stored in room temperature for up to 2 weeks. Enjoy!
