Cook Nook – Monte Cristo (Shaffer Style)

Ingredients:

  • 8 slices Cooked turkey
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 8 slices Cooked turkey ham
  • 8 slices American cheese
  • 24 slices White bread

***Batter***

  • 3 tablespoons Baking powder
  • 4 ½ cups all purpose Flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 3 ¾ cup water
  • 3 large Eggs–beaten
  • 3 teaspoons Sugar
  • Oil–for deep frying
  • Powdered sugar
  • Raspberry jelly

Directions:
Assemble sandwiches: Bread , Turkey, Swiss cheese, Bread, Turkey ham, American cheese, Bread.  Cut sandwich in half . Use toothpicks to hold each side of the sandwich together.

Mix flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl stir :  egg, water, and sugar. Add to flour mixture and stir. Dip each sandwich in batter and deep fry (360°) until golden brown.

Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with jelly.
