Hi Amazing Kids! I would like to share my recipe for Asian Lettuce Wraps with Orange Sauce. I love this dish because it is both tasty and healthy! Oranges, the featured fruit, are low in calories, contain no saturated fat or cholesterol, and are an excellent source of vitamin C. Did you know Florida is the second largest producer of oranges? Twelve thousand Florida citrus growers cultivate 74 million citrus trees across 569,000 acres of land! That’s a ton of fruit! Complementing the oranges are aromatic onions, crunchy celery, and spicy hot sauce. Make sure your ingredients are as fresh as possible for the best results. Have fun cooking!

Asian Lettuce Wraps with Orange Sauce

Ingredients:

  • Orange Juice
  • Oil
  • Ground Turkey
  • Carrots
  • Onion
  • Celery
  • Orange
  • Red Bell Pepper
  • Cilantro
  • Soy Sauce
  • Hot Sauce
  • Lettuce
  • Cornstarch
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Directions:

  1. Pour olive oil in a pan.
  2. Add ground turkey.
  3. Sauté until turkey is almost cooked through.
  4. Add onion, red bell pepper, carrots, celery, and a couple drops of hot sauce.
  5. Let mixture sauté for a couple of minutes.
  6. Mix cornstarch, soy sauce, and orange juice in a separate bowl, and pour these ingredients into the meat mixture.
  7. Bring down to a simmer.
  8. Let mixture simmer for three minutes.
  9. Add oranges, salt, and pepper.
  10. Heat for one minute.
  11. Scoop some of the mixture into a bowl.
  12. Wrap mixture in lettuce, and garnish with cilantro.
