Cook Time with Remmi – September 2016

Hi Amazing Kids! I would like to share a dish I love—Pear Salsa. As a new school year unfolds, I hope you will consider this easy-to-make recipe a refreshing afterschool snack. Besides tasting good, pears are good for you; in fact, pears are low in calories, contain no saturated fats or cholesterol, and are full of vitamins and minerals. Enjoy this healthy treat!

Pear Salsa

Ingredients:

  • Tortilla Chips
  • Orange Juice
  • Green Bell Pepper
  • Parsley
  • Pears
  • Onion
  • Lime Juice
  • Yellow Bell Pepper
  • Jalapeno
  • Cucumber
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, combine pears, cucumber, onion, green bell pepper, yellow bell pepper, jalapeno, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix the ingredients in the bowl together.
  3. In a separate bowl for the sauce, combine lime juice, oil, and orange juice.
  4. Mix the sauce, and drizzle it over the rest of the ingredients right before serving.
  5. Stir until fruits and vegetables are coated in sauce.
  6. Pour a spoonful of the salsa into a serving bowl.
  7. Garnish with parsley, and serve with tortilla chips.
