By Ryan Traynor, Editor-in-Chief

Creative Children For Charity– a youth led program whose mission is to bring kids and youth together through art and leadership programs in the community, is attempting to BREAK A GUINNESS WORLD RECORD by helping paint a Salmon Mural!  The goal is to bring over 2900 people in our community to break the record for the most contributions to a Paint-by-Numbers Painting. This attempt will occur on October 3rd and 4th this year from 10am-6pm both days at ArtEAST Art Center at 95 Front Street North in Issaquah, Washington. People of all ages are welcome to attend and help or support the event.

“We are aiming to bring over 2900 people in our community to break this record and also inspire youth to take on big challenges. We are really excited to take an official attempt to break this record” said Chirag Vedullapalli, Founder of Creative Children for Charity.

The founder Chirag Vedullapalli is a 14-year-old talented artist that creates gorgeous art using many different mediums including oils and acrylics on canvas. He is a social entrepreneur and supports charities through the sale of his art. He has donated over $20,000 from these sales to many charities. Chirag was an Amazing Kid of the Month in November, 2011 and has continued to do amazing work to support art in his community.

In 2014, thousands of Salmon Days participants created Salmon Crowns and Salmon Pictures while visiting the artEAST Art Center at Salmon Days in Issaquah. Creative Children for Charity hosted 4,000 people – and more than 600 people created paper salmon crowns.  This year they are bringing their creative energy together again to support the Salmon Days Festival, our community, and the important work the festival does in helping understand the importance of restoring and protecting salmon habitats. Creative Children for Charity partners with artEast and Sammamish YMCA to build communities, raise awareness of important issues, give youth the opportunity to envision and guide important community initiatives, and help develop engaged and committed leaders for the future.
