August Amazing Kid! of the Month

With the arrival of August, school lurks just around the corner. Now is the time to reflect on how you spent your summer months and how to make the best use of what remains of these sunny days. Get outside, meet with friends, wrap up any summer assignments you may have. It’s time to stop waiting and start doing. Amazing Kids! encourages you to take full advantage of the month of August to chase after your dreams and make an impact on your community and the world.

Zack Francom, for one, is all about being brave and making a difference. After being inspired by a school assembly, Zack created his own lemonade and cookie stand. What’s impressive about Zack’s Shack is how long it has been running. For six years, Zack has sold lemonade and cookies in order to purchase wheelchairs for those in developing nations. Six years!

Zack continues to go even further. Keep reading to find out more about Zack and his sweet lemonade and powerful dreams.

Zach greets every day happily because he knows he is following his heart and making a difference.

Not Just a Lemonade Stand

Zack and his classmates were challenged by their school to raise money to purchase wheelchairs for those in developing nations. Inspired by the words of his school administration, Zack was determined to earn enough money to buy at least one wheelchair on his own. He succeeded and soon decided that fundraising was an activity he wanted to continue participating in.

Zack’s Shack was the result of Zack’s big heart and aspirations.

Over the time span of about six years, Zack’s Shack has raised more than $60,000, allowing Zack to purchase over 300 wheelchairs. The shack offers a wide assortment of cookies including snickerdoodles, chocolate chip, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, and sugar as well as fresh lemonade made with Country Time Lemonade Power and fresh lemons – all for a good price. Recently, Zack has started selling T-shirts as well in order to increase profits and provide more wheelchairs to those in need.

Of course, Amazing Kids! is most impressed by Zack’s use of the money he earns. Currently, Zack donates all of the money he earns to a local charity that purchases and delivers wheelchairs to third world nations. In the future, Zack plans on making his own purchases and delivering wheelchairs himself. This goal truly shows the joy Zack receives out of helping others.

Good is Best Done Together

Zack has been helped by many along his journey. In fact, part of the reason why doing what he does gives him such great happiness is how touched he is by the support he receives.

When asked who helped him along on his journey, Zack credited many. First and foremost, Zack gave thanks to his parents. Zack’s mother is always hard a work helping Zack manage social media outlets and baking cookies. Zack’s father helps by keeping track of business and financial matters. Next, Zack thanked his friends and community as well as the complete strangers who support him at his stand. He makes an effort to personally thank everyone who makes a purchase or donation at Zack’s Shack. Lastly, Zack told us how lucky he was to receive coverage from various media sources.

As Zack moves forward with his ambitions, he plans on encouraging kids around the world to setup their own stands. The thought of hundreds of kids setting up their own lemonade and cookies stands strikes us as pretty cool! We’re sure that we’ll continue to hear great things about Zack in the future.

At the end of the day, Zack’s acknowledgement to those around him reminds us that we are never alone in this world. The tasks we face may feel daunting, but we must remember that there are always people we can fall back on.

The Greatest Sweetness

Zack has many sweet things for sale at his shack, but we believe the ultimate sweetness is something else. While cookies and lemonade may satisfy us, the greatest sweetness in the world is the joy we feel when we follow our dreams, help those around us, and aspire to be more than we already are.

We encourage you to explore the many activities we as humans have access to. Find your personal happiness. Everyone makes a difference differently so it is important that you explore your options. When you do find an activity that speaks to you, you will taste a brilliant sweetness.

We will leave you with a piece of Zack’s advice: “just follow what your heart and mind is telling you to do.
