Amazing Kids! Magazine

June 2014: Issue #80 – Road Roaming

Hi Amazing Kids!

May has been such a blur, especially for our older writers! With Advanced Placement exams taking place in high schools across the United States, finals prepping, and various end-of-year activities bunched together into a few weeks, who can tell where the month has gone? Hopefully, everyone was able to wish their mother a happy Mother’s Day!

Our theme for this month may give you spring fever – Road Roaming is all about traveling, whether it’s for vacation or just for fun! Fortunately, many of our writers have already planned out their vacations or are recalling fond memories from past years.

For instance, Amazing Kids! Adventures Editor Cathy has begun a series of stories detailing her vacation to the majestic city of London, England! Check out “Dreams of London” for an exciting, factual tale to inspire your own summer travels.

On the other hand, Jhosmar from California wrote about a tale closer to home in “My Trip to Water World,” and Ignacio from California (too!) wrote a story about a boy having a “staycation” while trying to cope with the fact that his friends are flying to Europe in “The Bad and Best Summer Ever.” Definitely stop by the Fiction column to read more wonderful works from our talented writers!

If airplanes and staycations aren’t your thing, then consider taking your palette for a trip around the world. Aazan, a contributor from South Korea, will be sharing a cultural recipe for a Korean rice cake called Mujigae Tteok. It looks delicious, and I would encourage anyone who is able to successfully make one to send us pictures! We always love contributions, especially from our amazing readers!

On a final note, for all of you science nerds out there, we have a special piece just for you! Megan from Singapore has shared with us some facts about dark matter, one of the most mysterious substances in this universe! Forget about Road Roaming – try your hand at Space Roaming over by the Nonfiction column and learn something new about the world around you!

With so many great stories to inspire you, what will you come up with? Amazing Kid! Magazine publishes articles monthly (and bi-monthly for our special edition summer issue Digital Generation!) If you’re a creative kid, get outside this summer and take pictures, have fun, and…don’t forget to write!

Sincerely,

Sharon Lin
