The armadillo
Wraps itself in its shell,
Using it as a shield
To hide from everything else.

There are times I wish I had a shell,
Something I could use to protect myself,
To cover up when I’m afraid,
To use as a guard.

I envy the armadillo,
Its ability to blend in,
To avoid its predators,
To disguise itself.

As it curls into a ball,
I admire the ‘dillo.
I only question
If it admires me.
