Dancing Seed

By Ally Cottrell, Age: 13, Minnesota

Why do they do it?
travel down like so
twisting, turning, dancing, gliding
almost like a show.

How do they survive?
fragile as a flake of snow
veins crawling up the sides
carried by a single blow.

And yet they climb
up to the size
their father maple grew.

Against the odds
they found a place
and just decided to grow.
