Dear Gerbera

By Alice West, age 17, London

Dear Gerbera,
I study your face
And know you less:
Surreal.

Dear Gerbera,
Our eyes have connected:
Unreal.

Dear flower, impenetrable smile,
Solidity of plastic petals,
Arms soaring from the soul.

Dear Daisy,
Dipped in paint,
Red,
Night has come;
Gerbera, enfold slowly,
Rest now,
Hide your head.

Dear Gerbera,
A closed umbrella of vivid color:
Unreal.

Dear Gerbera,
A tight petal bomb,
A sleeping bud:
Surreal.
