The tree stands unsteadily in the ground
Its leaves twitching in the breeze
Its thin trunk cowering
Looking feeble in the sunlight

It remains strong
Through times of distress
Times when it wanted to lower
To avoid the sun’s rays

When fear strikes
Many run and hide
But the tree
Takes a breath

Redoing what damage has undone
Reliving pride and changing fear
Feeling unafraid and carefree
Determination prevails
