Effect of Today’s Electronics

By Hridhima Tyagi, Contributing Writer

I passed by an empty park, so quiet and dry.
Where did the children go? I thought with a sigh.
It’s as if today’s world revolves around screens,
Merely sitting on a couch and operating machines.
How merry the earlier times were when we used to play
Games like cricket and football in the park the whole day.
We would never get tired; we would never sit.
Even if we got a bruise, we would never quit.
But today, the world is changing: Oh, it’s so sad.
Children like to play games on mobiles and iPads,
Spending the whole day on a couch in a room.
In front of laptops, they bring their own doom,
Messaging friends on tabs—oh, it’s so true.
So many friends on Facebook but none to talk to.
How to forget the beloved television with lovely programs and cartoons,
Sitting inside dark rooms on sunny afternoons?
Electronics are important; they join family and friends.
They remove distances between both the ends,
But at the same time, they are so harmful.
They are sometimes extremely stressful,
Making eyes blur and vision a bit hazy,
Getting fatter and fatter and, oh, so lazy.
It’s as if today’s world revolves around screens,
Merely sitting on a couch and operating machines.
When we played as kids, we were so slim,
But today this work’s done by machines and gyms.
We had so many friends, such fun to talk and play,
But today with electronics, we’re alone every day.
I plea to children to move away from computers,
Or else they will repent their laziness in the future.
