Fade

By Victoria Krylova, 13, Tennessee

A fawn hovers
By the water’s edge
Spotted coat blending
With the misty foliage
Sprinkling silver droplets
Fog rises from the lake

Daintily he lowers down
Drinking of the pure, clear waters
Something stirs in the stillness
Twirls, prances
Faster and faster
Disturbing the silence

Ripples frolic
Skip across the plain
Whirl, turn
Slow down
Then fade altogether

These are memories
They come
And pass away
They stir and whirl
Far in our minds
Then they fade
