By Wendy Paredes, age 10, California
I used to be shy
When bullies made me cry,
Teasing and laughing; “Here we come!”
And stripping away all of my freedom.
Why don’t they like the way I dress?
Meanness only makes more mess.
But one day I told them, “STOP! ENOUGH!”
No more emotional handcuffs!
My problems are finally gone
Because victory has been won!
Fears can be defeated-
Only willpower is needed.
So DREAM: Be a singer
Or even a heart or horse doctor.
It doesn’t matter what they say;
Let’s be stronger girls today!
beautiful work
