Last Breaths

By Cassandra Alvarado, age 11, California

Kindness filled my grandpa
He made everybody feel like it was his or her birthday
When good health was his biggest desire
His laugh and life inspired all of my family
But now all of this has gone away
It’s too hard to believe
That this has happened to me
With one last breath
He passed away
While I held him in my arms
No good-bye or good-night
Although Grandpa’s body might be gone
His spirit is still with me
He passed away with
Just one last breath

Oh Man!!! I feel so bad for you. You know, my Grandpa passed away when I was 3 and a half years old. I still remember when he cut my hair, fed me ice cream, and played with me. It’s hard, but your parents and the people you love will help you through the hard times. Your poem is great though, you must have loved your Grandpa in the time he was alive.
