Melancholy

By Sarah Khan, Age 16, Pakistan

Melancholy
Struggled to free myself from chains
I lingered around hopelessly in vain
Watching out eagerly for bolt holes
While eluded those who were ready to tole
Seeking for a single ray of light
As everything appeared invisible from sight
Sometimes wading in sea, sometimes lost in desert
No matter what, my life is haggard
Where only jagged rocks welcome my feet
And hands got tangled in thorns and weed
Living it through unharmed is a grand feat
Only worth people of courage replete
