Your pudgy hands
Covered in glitter and Elmer’s glue
Rosy cheeks, munching on a chocolate chip cookie
I could watch you play for hours
Pretending the toy Ferrari in your hand is zooming down the race track of your thigh
You’ve come a long way, I think to myself
From the wires that once supported your feeble, little heart
To the endless nights you spent in a hospital bed
A gentle giggle escapes from your crimson lips
My heart melts
You’re mine
