Owls

By Daniel Hitz, 9, Washington

An owl glides
Silently over a field.
It swoops down
Without a sound,
Grabs a skittering rodent,
And brings it back to her hungry babies.
They gobble and munch it down.
Next she goes and hunts for herself.
Later the father goes out to hunt.
By sunrise they are all happily sleeping in their nest.
Day comes
And a night once more.
