Rain, Rain, Go Away

By Vicki Corral, Age 11, California

The lonely lady kneels and prays
She asks for help, I heard her say
“Good bye my friend, I miss you much”
“I miss your smile, I miss your touch”
Her mind tries to go a different way
But tears and memories make her stay
Sometimes her weather clears
Winds of hope blow away her fears.
Her heart is dry from lack of rain
She hopes, she hopes, she hopes, again
No more weeping, no more grief.
She finally decides to turn a new leaf.
