Spring Fever

By Allison Stein, age 13, Michigan

Don’t you want to sunbathe?
I’m feeling trapped and insane
Don’t you want to touch the rays?
Or hear the quiet drops of rain?

Replace the gusts with a breeze
The budding, beautiful trees
A dandelion to sway and tease
Be able to wear my pastel capris

I want to smell the scent of grass
As the days of winter pass
Until it comes to the last
And with spring fever, I’m already entranced

Can picture early spring sunburn
Even before the calendars turn
