Summer

By Danny Otten, Age 9, Virginia

The children say that school’s out,
Absolutely no one has a pout,
And it’s time to go fishing for trout.

Sometimes people get a kick,
From planning summer brick by brick,
By choosing activities they want to pick.

Lots of people get a cold,
They find that summer’s getting old,
And school will start again, they’re told.

A man will start firing his gun,
And the cotton will be spun,
The children will say that fall’s begun!
