By Madeleine Delbridge
The moment after
Loud, chattery people
Leaving
A quiet wake
Nimble feet
Danced,
stomped,
leapt on my head
Now deflated and alone
Covered in leftover confetti
Sad and lonely
No friends or allies
Left now
Cleaning crews
Sweeping
Humming out-of-key
Familiar tunes
I’ve heard before
The moment after
So dull and plain
Not in use
Nothing to do but
Wait,
wait,
Wait.
For another moment before
