By Alden Walcott, age 7, Virginia
Putting on my skates, I glide across the ice,
The wind’s current pushing against me.
Like a dolphin flying over the sea,
I jump, leap, spin, stroke,
Happy to be free,
To be in my own world.
Surrounded by music, I float and dance,
Interpreting the sounds as my song,
Expressing what my words cannot say.
I am graceful.
I am swift.
I am strong.
