The Uncertain

By Caitlin Hogue, Age 13, Kentucky

My feet dangle above the ground
The wind resonates true freedom
real fear, I have found
Scarier places, I’ve only dreamt them
I realize horror is the unknown,
gasping for a glimpse of the future
And once that glimpse is shown
your left in a dazed stupor
But this wish cannot be granted
Alas, but maybe that is best
for unknown tragedies, easy to damage
should be left to rest
But a soul cannot help but yearn
to figure out what will happen
soon enough it shall learn
That it wish it hadn’t.
