Three Little Flowers

By Samia Alvi

Three little flowers, dancing like lion’s
One small two big dandelions
They bloom downy white, in the bright sunlight
They twirl, they swirl all through the night
Violets sing their floral song
White garden daisies sound the gong
Animals are waiting, on gravel stones
If the band won’t show up, there will be moans and groans
But the symphony arrives
Between two beehives
Met with squirrely applause
Made by tiny paws
The audience can hardly believe what they hear
Until they see the band disappear
It was their time to bloom
But heat brings their doom
Let’s wait for autumn
When these balls of cotton
Graciously dance of the field
Wherefore the cycle of life is sealed
