Through the Window

By Ethan Bloom, grade 10

There is a face in the window,
A bird peeping through,
And it began to chirp as the cold wind blew.
“Let me in,” it cried with the softest of voice,
“For I am but a small bird with no other choice.”

I opened the window, and the feathered creature flew in,
Shivering and chattering with icy cold skin.
The next day she thanked me for the warm place to sleep;
Then off she went without so much as a peep.
