Under the Trees

By Allison Stein, Age 14, Michigan

I sit on my swing and swing high;
I look at a lot of ash trees.
All of the trees are really tall;
They are so pretty to see.

It is spring, so some of the trees’
Branches still have buds on them,
But some branches have leaves on them
Like a flower on a stem.

Outside, some leaves are a dark green;
There are many hearts they fill.
Unless the wind blows the wind chimes,
Under the trees, it is still.

So now I want to keep swinging
And dream for a little while;
I laugh when I’m under the trees,
And their beauty makes me smile.
