Amazing Kid! Interview with Campbell Remess

By Victoria Feng, Editor-in-Chief

Campbell “Bumble” Remess is the founder of Project 365, an organization that makes teddy bears to kids around the world struggling with hardships.  Once bullied himself, Campbell wants to help those in need, including being bullied.  He hopes that the bears will unlock the courage inside the receiver to stay strong in the face of adversity.

Amazing Kids (AK): What inspired you to start Project 365?

Campbell Remess (CR): I wanted to gift children in hospital with presents at Christmas time and my parents said it would cost too much so I wanted to make them.  I made my first toy (a soft ball) and asked mum how many I would have if I made 1 a day, it was 365 so I decided I would call it Project 365 and do one gift a day

(AK): How do bears help children in need?

(CR): Every one loves bears, they are nice to look at, great to cuddle and you can keep them with you

(AK): What are the different ways people can be active in Project 365?

(CR): They can come to gala dinners where I fundraise, sponsor a book or bear, or make a donation through

(AK): What is the Polar Plunge and how does it help those in need?

(CR): In Feburary 2019, I will go to Antarctica with a kindness cruise and I am fundraising for cancer research by jumping in the water – people can donate to jump or don’t jump to decide if I jump in the water or not and the biggest fundraiser will decide

(AK): If you could change one thing about the world, what would you change?

(CR): Everyone should just be kind.

(AK): What are your goals for the future, both professionally and personally?

(CR): I have a lot of things I love doing.  I want to work in a lab on research and I also love to film as well and make videos.

(AK): What advice would you give to Amazing Kids! readers?

(CR): Always Be Kind – if you are always kind you’ll help to change the world by instantly changing the world of people around you – just always be kind

(AK): Is there anything else you’d like to add?

(CR): Making bears is my way of being kind but there are things you can do every day to be kind and it never takes very much to make a big difference.
