The Brain gives a concise, but informative, overview of what the brain does, what it is made of, what injuries the brain can receive, and how we can make it strong and healthy. The brain is protected by three layers of membranes and a layer of fluid, and is also connected to your spinal cord, which helps transmit messages to and from your brain and the rest of your body. The brain is also made up of the cerebrum, the cerebellum, the brain stem, and the limbic system. The functions of each are explained in the book, so if you want to find out more, go find out in this great book!

I highly recommend this book to everyone, because the writing is very clear. Difficult terms are defined intelligibly, and I had no trouble understanding what the author was saying. In the back, there is also a helpful glossary if some sentences that don’t make sense. I also liked this book, because I learned more about what injuries can occur to the brain, whether minor or serious. A headache actually occurs when the muscles of the head and neck tense up, so a good way to get rid of a headache is to relax. I also learned that in order to keep our brains strong, we need to eat healthy, get a lot of rest, exercise, and learn a lot.

If any of this sounds interesting, go pick up this book at your local library or bookstore!
