Helping Mom Make Cupcakes

By Daniela Cuellar, age 10, California

It was Saturday night about 9:30 p.m. when I asked my mom if we could make Funfetti cupcakes.

“Yes, just wait a little bit,” said Mom.

“Okay,” I said.

Then I went to my room for a while.

“Danny, come to the kitchen please,” said Mom.

I went to the kitchen and started helping my mom.

“Can you get me the ingredients please?” said Mom.

I went and got the ingredients and put the batter in a bowl; the batter smelled so good. Then my mom put in all the ingredients, and she started mixing the cupcake batter. When she finished mixing it, I put the batter in little cupcake cups and put it in the oven. While I was waiting for the cupcakes to bake, I FaceTimed my best friend, Yarethzi, for a while. After a while my mom called me to the kitchen.

“The cupcakes are ready!” my mom said.

“Okay, I’ll be there in a minute,” I said.

I said bye to Yarethzi and headed to the kitchen. When I went to the kitchen, it smelled so good. I waited for the cupcakes to cool down. Finally, the cupcakes cooled down. I only frosted the cupcake I was going to eat. When I bit into the cupcake, it was fluffy as a cloud; it tasted like vanilla, but it was better. I went back to the kitchen and got a cold glass of milk.

“Thank you!” I said.

I gave her a big, warm bear hug. It was too late, so I went to sleep. I had a wonderful day.
