My Summer

By Davi Jacobs, Contributing Writer

This summer I went to tennis camp for three weeks in July. I really want to get better at tennis and make new friends at camp, which I accomplished. Elli, my sister, and I carpooled with Andrea and Sofia for the camp because we are neighbors—my mom drives us in the morning, and their mom picks the four of us up in the afternoon. I learned how to serve the ball better, and I learned how to do forehands and backhands. The tennis camp is at Georgetown Prep, which is a really expensive private school for boys that rents out its school grounds in the summer. My favorite counselor at camp was Courbon. He reminds me of my orthodontist, and Sydney (a new friend) made him little ponytails on his head. Courbon plays tennis really well, though he can be annoying sometimes. Andrea and Sofia were a bit whiny because of the heat. Sofia does not really care about getting better at tennis; and Andrea does, but she cries every time we play a tennis game with points and she does not get any! She is 12! Elli tries hard to get better at tennis, and she is pretty good already. Tennis camp starts at 8:30 in the morning; we play tennis for about three hours (this includes exercises, games, and rallying); we eat lunch for about an hour, and then we play tennis for about two hours. At the end of the day, we go to the indoor pool for half an hour to cool off. I really want to get better at tennis and have a tennis body where my legs and arms are toned and muscular. I hope everyone had a great summer!
