Mystery Interview with JM

By Natalie Brady, Jr. Assistant Editor

AK: Where did you originate?

INTERVIEWEE: I originated in New Orleans, Louisiana in the early 20th century –however, my roots link back to Africa and Europe as well, when many tribes and others had little tunes to sing on their way to work or something or other.

AK: If that’s the case, where would you say you were born?

INTERVIEWEE: I wasn’t born in any specific place – unless you would call the hearts of people a location. I was nurtured in places like New Orleans and Africa, but I wasn’t born there; people merely began to make me more popular.

AK: What is your main goal?

INTERVIEWEE: My main goal? My main goal is to help people express their thoughts, opinions, and emotions. Some people just don’t know how to express themselves speaking, but they know how to through music – playing an instrument or singing a song. Every genre of music has emotion, but I am more of a cover for all emotions.

Who are you?

Our mystery interviewee was JAZZ MUSIC.

Jazz music has been around for years and years, but it was places like New Orleans that really made this genre of music popular. Through jazz, people can express their thoughts, opinions, and emotions accurately, whether it be playing an instrument or singing to a jazz tune. Jazz has no limitations in what you do or what you create – there is always room for improvisation!
