Should Students Say the Pledge?

By Nwall Almotarreb, Age 11, South Carolina

Do you realize the pledge is what’s keeping us together? In my judgment, the pledge is not wrong to say. Students should say the pledge because it unites us. It’s a reminder of history, and gives us respect to the U.S.

First of all, some people thinks saying the pledge is a waste of time because it disturbs you from learning when you’re the middle of session. For instance when you learn the loud speaker disturbs the class. That is to say, everyone should say it because it gives respect to the U.S.

Another reason why we should all say the pledge is that it’s a reminder of history. For example everything that has happened in the past. That is to say, saying the pledge is worth standing up for.

In addition, saying the pledge is what unites us to stand together, for the simple reason that it’s a reminder of history. In other words, everything that has happened in the past is what the pledge means.

Some people think the pledge is a waste of time. They argue that it’s not a reminder; they also say that it doesn’t unite us. In addition, they believe it’s not right to say because most students are listless to stand up and say the pledge.

However, in my judgment, these arguments are flawed. First of all, I believe these arguments are wrong because it’s worth standing up for. In addition, it doesn’t make sense not wanting to say the pledged because nobody should ever be listless in any way. Finally, saying you don’t care about the pledge is a weak argument.

I think it is necessary to say the pledge. It unites us, it’s a reminder, and it gives respect to the U.S.
