Rules:
What: The Amazing Kids! Short Story Contest, 2010
Who: The contest is open to kids ages 6-17.
Age Categories: There will be one winner selected from each of the following age categories:
- 6-7
- 8-9
- 10-11
- 12-13
- 14-15
- 16-17
When: Contest deadline is October 30, 2010.
How: Write a story, in 1,500 words or less, with a subject and genre of your own choosing. Please make sure your story is kid-friendly.
**Stories which contain violence or other inappropriate themes or subject matter for kids will be disqualified.**
Please include the following with your entry:
- Your Name
- Your Age
- Email Address
- Parent’s Email Address if under age 13
- Mailing Address
- Phone Number
Important Note: Parental signature/permission required for children under age 13 to participate. Submissions without a parent or guardian’s signature will not be eligible for judging.
For emailed submissions, parents should include the sentence: “I hereby give my child permission to enter the Amazing Kids! Short Story Contest 2010†and either scan their signature and include it with their child’s submission, or and write their name and the words “Digital Signature.†Parents must also include their email address, for confirmation purposes.
The story will be judged on the following:
- Creativity and Originality of Story
- Story Composition and Overall Structure
- Spelling and grammar
- Staying within the 1,500 word limit
Where: All entries should be emailed to Amazing Kids! at: sscontest@amazing-kids.org.
Important: Please include the words: “SS Contest†and your name (name of person entering the contest) in the subject line.
Please send attachments as either a Microsoft Word .doc or .rft format, or include your stories directly in the body of your email.
Please note: Preferred method for submitting an entry is email; please send stories by “snail mail†only if email is not available to you.
